Up, up and more up.
Rain, rain and more rain.
Late nights and early mornings.
Fording swollen creeks and streams.
Wet clothes (from rain and sweat).
Torn calf muscle and not being able to hike for nearly a week.
Burn holes in my sleeping bag (you wouldn’t believe me if I told you).
Rocks, rocks and more rocks.
And did I mention the rain, the ups and the sore muscles?!?!
It’s all been too much!!
Virginia has been described a couple of different ways–“the green tunnel”, “it’s so easy, you’ll cruise”, “it’s pretty level, it evens out”. There are more miles in the state of Virginia than any other state along the Appalachian Trail, with nearly a third of the total miles. We have already been in this state since May 20, almost a month, and we still have more than 250 miles yet to hike.
I’ve got the Virginia Blues.
I am sooo ready to be done with this state–So Ready.
