Trail Whimsy in August

As you have probably guessed by now,  I love trail whimsy!  Part of the fun is being surprised!

One day we came around a curve in the trail and saw this:

Did you laugh?  We did!  It’s not every day you find a roll of eco friendly toilet paper sitting on a rock in the woods.  I will tell you from experience that when your supply of TP is low, finding this is true trail magic!

One day Prairie Dog pointed out smiley faces in the mud.  They don’t photograph well,  but doesn’t the thought make you smile?

How about this?

Or this?

Coming across surprises like these in the middle of the woods adds a bit of magic to days filled with everything from plain hard work to delight to awe.  Just a few more things that make us say, “How lucky are we to be having this adventure?!”

Blessings on the journey, Dragonfly

About dragonfly2013at

Years ago i was walking in nature and a dragonfly landed on my hand. My hiking companion commented,"Change is coming in your life." Indeed, it was! I worked in business where pumps were the fashion. I left it for work where orange shoes are appreciated. This suits me. I love what I do. I just need a break to refresh and so I am! I am the 4th of 11 children. Years ago orange shoes assured that I would not be left behind (we moved a lot)...or suffer face first in a snow drift for too long. I will wear orange laces on the hike. Orange is not in hiking boot fashion at this time. Blessings on the journey. Dragonfly

    Blessings on the way!
Please say a prayer for me on the journey. Had a bad vertigo episode yesterday in Central Park. My blessing on the road was a young couple who, just happened to be right near me with a wheel chair, and brought me to a place I could sit until I could walk. Than several people at the Plaza hotel who helped me. Biggest blessing was I was
with my best friend and not alone.
    Blessings on the journey!

Yes, mountain paper (tp) as it was called back when I hiked the trail, is very expensive , when you out and have to trade for some …Can’t do without it , so trading skills are important on the trail too!…Glad to see you two are having some laugh along the way to brighten you time while hiking ..

  3. Five Cents Worth says:
